Ferromanganese is an alloy of manganese and iron, and also contains carbon, silicon, phosphorus and a few other elements. Ferromanganese is categorized into high carbon ferromanganese, medium carbon ferromanganese, low carbon ferromanganese and micro carbon ferromanganese according to the carbon content. Ferromanganese is made from manganese ore, which is melted in a blast furnace or electric furnace. Ferromanganese is commonly used as an oxygen absorber in steel and iron, and manganese also has a desulfurizing effect. Therefore, in all kinds of steel and cast iron, almost all contain a certain amount of manganese.

Iron and steel industry
Ferromanganese is an indispensable deoxidizer and desulfurizer in steelmaking industry. Desulfurization means removing sulfur and other harmful substances in steel, ferromanganese can achieve the purpose of desulfurization very well, effectively reduce the content of harmful elements in steel and improve the quality of steel. The use of ferromanganese as desulfurization agent can also reduce the cost of steel enterprises.
Foundry industry
Ferromanganese can be added into cast iron as the inoculant and spheroidizing agent of ductile iron. Ferromanganese can also prevent the formation of carbide, promote the precipitation of graphite, shorten the spheroidization time, reduce the impurities in the iron water, improve the performance of cast iron. At the same time, it can reduce the clogging of melting furnace outlet and effectively extend the service life of melting furnace.
