Development Prospect Of Silicon Barium Calcium Materials

SiBa Ca is a good new deoxidizer in steelmaking, and has good desulfurization and phosphorus capacity. It plays a very important role in smelting steel grades with low sulfur and phosphorus, and has broad application prospects in special steel system.

Si Ba Ca alloy is a new composite alloy in barium alloys, which is a deoxidizer, desulfurizer and dephosphorizer in steelmaking. It is an inoculant and modifier in casting. Barium reduces the vapor pressure of calcium and increases the solubility of calcium in molten steel within the range of steelmaking temperature. Compared with the silicon calcium alloy, when the silicon barium calcium alloy is used as the calcium source to add into the molten steel, the calcium content in the molten steel is about twice that of the silicon calcium alloy even if the calcium content is half of the silicon calcium alloy. It shows that the silicon barium calcium can be deoxidized again while significantly improving the efficiency of calcium treatment of molten steel. The chemical composition (weight%) of silicon barium calcium is 30~60% Si, 5~20% Ba, 3~20% Ca, and the remaining amount is Fe and inevitable impurities. The preparation method of calcium barium silicate is to put the raw materials into the submerged arc furnace according to the chemical calculation proportion (weight) for reduction smelting. The raw materials used are silica, celestite, barite, limestone or lime, and steel chips (prepared according to the product composition). The reductant is coal, coke, charcoal, etc. The above raw materials and reducing agents are mixed and placed in an submerged arc furnace, and the required silicon barium calcium alloy is smelted by one reduction. The content of calcium element in silicon barium calcium is appropriate, which overcomes the shortcomings of generating smoke and polluting the environment in the past deoxidation process.
