Silicon Metal Lumps (also referred to as crystalline silicon or industrial silicon) are produced via the pyrometallurgical reduction of high-purity quartz (SiO₂) using carbon-based reducing agents in a submerged electric arc furnace (SAF).
Compared to silicon powder or pre-melted ingots, lump-form silicon provides key process advantages for metallurgical and chemical applications:
